Tour Description
A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, Pompeii is an important part of ancient Rome history. The city was destroyed in 79 A.D. when the eruption of nearby Vesuvius buried the city, its buildings, streets, and inhabitants. You will visit the main sites such as the market, the thermal baths, and the residences of some of wealthy citizens. You will discover the customs of the time and the everyday life in this city before the destructive volcanic eruption.
Some of the most famous attractions we will admire in the Pompeii ruins are: the Forum area, the centre of the city’s social, political, economic, and religious life, the majestic Basilica, which was the heart of Pompeii’s economic life, the Comitium, where electoral procedures took place. There is also the temple of Jupiter, the covered market (Macellium), the Forum Baths decorate inside with precious stucco and much more.
The Campania region boasts a rich volcanic soil which made it famous for wine production since Roman times. This special tour continues with the visit to a typical local vineyard where we will taste exclusive wines exported throughout the world such as the Lacryma Christi DOP.
